Albert Fish was an American serial killer who murdered at least five children across New York during the 1920s. He evaded capture for years. In 1934, ten years after the murder of ten year old Grace Budd, he sent a letter to her mother describing the crime in detail. Grace’s mother was illiterate and had a neighbour read the letter aloud to her. Police traced the letter to a boarding house and arrested Fish within days. He was tried, convicted and executed at Sing Sing Prison in January 1936. He was 65 years old.
INTERESTING FACT Albert Fish told investigators he had committed crimes in every state in America. Investigators believed him. The true number of his victims has never been established. He expressed no remorse at his trial. He said the electric chair would be the ultimate thrill.
